GOLF - SENIOR GOLFERS MALAYSIA


ZAINOLDIN WON THE PRESIDENT’S TROPHY

Zainoldin Ahmad, an ex-international Goalkeeper won the inaugural Senior Golfers President’s Trophy by 3 strokes with a total nett of 68, 65 (133) beating Azman Halimi Dato’ Mansor (16) who carded 136 nett. A 13 handicapper from Johor who was 5 shot behind after the first round came back with 65 to grab the President’s Trophy, donated by Tan Sri Sallehuddin Mohamed.

In the Gross category, Datuk A S Khamis (7) on 76, 80 (156) beat Ramli Ahmad (8). It was an exciting duel after both carded 76 on the first day and Khamis was leading all the way on the final round until the 16th hole where he had a double bogey and Ramli chipped in for birdie on the tough Par 3, 17th hole to lead by 1 going into the last. A poor sand shot denied Ramli of the title and Khamis’s par was enough to win by 1. Lt. Col. Dul Ngajis (R) was runner-up at 157 beating Ramli on count back.

In the Stableford category, Kuan Kim Huing (15) won on 83 points. Second was Tan Chin Hock on 74 on count back.

The 2 day inaugural event took place at the challenging Staffield Country Resort and attracted 91 players from all over the nation including Sabah and Sarawak.
